Polyamide (PA) monofilament

Surgical material Polyamide is a monofilament sterile suture material that is non-absorbable. It easily passes through tissues due to its low coefficient of friction and causes minimal tissue reaction. It is highly elastic and is supplied with atraumatic needles.

Specifications:

  • Sizes: USP 10/0 – USP 2;
  • Shelf life: 5 years;
  • Colors: black, blue;
  • Composition: polyamide;
  • Tissue reaction: minimal;

In vivo tensile strength retention: Due to progressive hydrolysis of polyamide in a living organism, a gradual decrease in tensile strength may occur over time. The loss of strength is more than 15% per year. Metabolites are gradually eliminated from the body.

Packaging: Polyamide suture material is supplied in double sterile packaging with a needle.

Sterilization method: Polyamide suture material is sterilized with ethylene oxide.

Application: Polyamide is widely used for suturing and ligating soft tissues, including neurosurgical, ophthalmological, cardiovascular, and microsurgical procedures. It is ideal for cutaneous wound closure in general and plastic surgery. Its main properties include flexibility, smoothness, and softness, making it extremely convenient for knotting, forming smooth and secure knots. It easily passes through tissues.
