Polyester meshes

Polyester hernia mesh is composed of high-quality polyester fibers that are woven or knitted together to form a mesh structure.

Polyester mesh is known for its excellent tensile strength, allowing it to withstand the forces exerted on the abdominal wall during physical activities. It also possesses a degree of flexibility, which helps it adapt to the natural movements of the body.

Polyester is generally considered biocompatible, meaning it is well-tolerated by the body and does not cause significant adverse reactions.

Polyester hernia mesh is available in various pore sizes, which determine the amount of tissue ingrowth and fixation. Smaller pore sizes promote better tissue integration, while larger pores may allow for more significant tissue ingrowth.

During hernia repair surgery, the polyester mesh is carefully positioned over the hernia defect and secured in place using sutures, staples, or tissue adhesives. The mesh acts as a scaffold, providing support and strengthening the weakened abdominal wall.
