Incision films

Incision drapes are used during surgical procedures to maintain aseptic conditions of the surgical field. The use of these drapes helps reduce the risk of infection in the surgical site by acting as a barrier and protecting the surgical wound from contamination*.

Application:

Applying surgical film drapes reduces the risk of infection by protecting the surgical site throughout the procedure.

When applied to the skin before making the incision, it creates a sterile surface.

The polyurethane film creates a sterile barrier on the skin, preventing contamination.

The inclusion of an antiseptic agent (such as iodine) in the surgical film leads to the elimination of microorganisms, penetrating deep into the skin layers (up to 1000 μm),

*compared to other antiseptic agents used for prepping the surgical field.

Note

  • Incision drapes containing antiseptics do not replace the preoperative preparation of the surgical field.
  • In case of hypersensitivity to iodine preparations, a hypoallergenic covering film should be used. The application of the drape should be done without stretching, ensuring full adhesion of the film.
  • Adhesives on incision drapes are sensitive to pressure, so after application, the drape should be pressed down on the entire surface with a sterile gauze.
  • When removing the drape, it should be peeled off parallel to the skin surface.
