NPWT

Treatment of wounds using negative pressure therapy is an innovative technique that accelerates wound healing. It allows successful treatment of wounds that are difficult to heal using other methods. Meditec’s NPWT drainage kits are universal and compatible with almost all connectors of stationary or portable vacuum systems.

  • Enhancement of local blood circulation.
  • Cleansing of the wound and maintenance of a moist environment.
  • Reduction of edema in the wound area.
  • Decrease in microbial contamination.
  • Protection against cross-infection.

Indications for using NPWT include:

  • Diabetic/neuropathic ulcers.
  • Vascular ulcers and burns.
  • Ulcers associated with vasculitis.
  • Sutures incapacity.
  • Open wounds.

  • Sealing films.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE FOR WOUND DRESSING

01 Perform preliminary cleansing of the wound, removing necrotic tissue, scabs, and solid particles, as well as excess exudate..
02 Use sterile scissors to cut the foam dressing according to the size and shape of the wound.
03 Place the foam dressing into the wound cavity and seal it tightly with a film.
04 Slightly lift the film and create a 2-4 cm diameter aperture
05 Remove the protective backing from the base of the port. Position the center of the port over the cut aperture. Remove the remaining protective backing. After applying the drainage dressing, the tube with a universal connector can be connected to any negative pressure wound therapy device. Follow the instructions provided with the specific wound treatment device for further steps.

ATTENTION! The drainage dressing should be replaced according to the negative pressure wound therapy protocol or the guidelines followed in this facility. Drainage dressings are intended for use by qualified personnel. Drainage dressings are for single-use only and should be disposed of after use or if the packaging is compromised.
